Rabbi David Helfand Weekend Visit to Shaare Torah

We are excited to welcome Rabbi David Helfand and his family to meet the Shaare Torah community on January 24-26!

The weekend is full of events, most of which are open to everyone, with a few geared toward specific demographic groups to facilitate interaction at a smaller scale. Please find one or two that best suit you, your family, and your schedule. We ask you to pre-register to help us determine set-up, food, and how best to plan meaningful interactions. Friday, January 24th

9:30 AM – Shabbat Sing with our preschoolers and their families at Shaare Torah

10:00 AM – Q&A for parents of preschoolers following Shabbat Sing at Shaare Torah

These events are open to all families with preschool-aged children.

6:00 PM –  Eat Pray Sing. Rabbi Helfand will help lead Friday night services at a member’s home and join us for a potluck dinner.
This event is limited in size, and invitations have been sent out for this event.  If you have not already received an email about Eat Pray Sing, but are interested in attending, please let us know.

Saturday, January 25th

Babysitting on Saturday will be provided in rooms 107 and 109 from 9:30am-2pm.  Children ages 2 years old through 5th grade are welcome. 

9:30 AM –  Rabbi Helfand will join the 6th-grade Shabbat students and their parents.

10:00 AM – Saturday Morning Services. Rabbi Helfand will lead the Torah service, and Musaf give a D’var Torah and read from the Torah. (This activity can be attended on Zoom)

12:00 PM – Kiddush Lunch following Shabbat Services.

1:00 PM – Q&A with Rabbi Helfand at Shaare Torah. (This activity can be attended on Zoom)

4:30-5:30 PM – Teen Experience for 8th – 12th grade.

6:00-7:30 PM – Our Annual PJ Havdalah with special guest Rabbi Helfand, including dinner. Registration needed by Thursday the 23rd at noon.

8:15 PM – Dessert Reception with Rabbi Search Team and Executive Committee.

Sunday, January 26th

8:00 AM – Minyan, coffee, light breakfast & teaching. (This activity can be attended on Zoom)
All are welcome to study with Rabbi Halfand on a topic of his choosing after morning Minyan and before he visits with our Religious School classes.
NOTE: Minyan is one hour earlier than the usual time.

9:15 AM – 10:30 AM – Q&A for parents of Nesiyah Students.

Please note that Religious School begins at the regularly scheduled time of 9:00 AM

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Religious School Visit. Rabbi Helfand will meet with the Nesiyah classes.
