About the Shaare Torah Jewish Culture Chavurah

We are culture lovers who are exploring together our understanding of Jewish Culture and making new friends in the process.  We bring guest speakers to our building and take day trips in the DC/MD area, with some events in the evening and some during the day.  The events on our horizon for 2022-23 reflect the diversity of our interests:

September 2022–Panel on the “The History of Jewish Politicians in Gaithersburg”

November 2022–Visit to the Phillip Ratner Museum in Bethesda

November 2022–Deli dinner and Kabbalah Shabbat

December 2022–Chef Susan Barocas–“Beyond Latkes, a Sephardic Hanukkah Menu”

December 2022–Kosher Chinese at Shaare Torah and Jewish trivia

January 2023–“Yaacov Agam–A Hands-On Israeli Art Experience” with Abraham, our shaliach

January 2023–Part one of our two-part theater experience–Johanna Gruenhut, Associate Director, Theater J–“The Inner Workings of Jewish Theater at Theater J and Beyond”

February 2023–Sunday brunch at Shaare Torah

March 2023–Jason Green’s documentary film “Finding Fellowship”

March 2023–Matinee of “Gloria” at Theater J

April 2023–Rebecca Erberling, featured in the Ken Burns documentary about the Holocaust and winner of the Jewish Book Award, speaks about “Rescue Board:  The Untold Story of America’s Efforts to Save the Jews of Europe”
