March for Israel Reflections & Looking Forward to Hanukkah

Am Yisrael Chai!

This past Tuesday, we marked Rosh Hodesh Kislev. We entered the month of the year with the coldest days and longest nights, during which we will kindle the flames of the menorah. It was an extraordinarily powerful experience to begin the new month by standing with more than 200 members of our Shaare Torah community and nearly 300,000 members of our multicultural, multi-denominational Jewish family and allies at the March for Israel on the National Mall. Together, we cried out for the return of hostages, took a stand against antisemitism, and sang Hatikvah with our whole, aching hearts. Clinging to hope and rooted in resilience, our Jewish people have persisted through excruciating struggles. Miraculously, we have continued to shine our light.

As we look toward Hanukkah later this month, may we know healing, blessing, more life and more light.
