“Jewish Values and Healthy Relationships”: Renana Harris-Blumenthal

Join Renana, Victim Advocate, from JCADA (Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse) for an interactive discussion about the intersection between Jewish values and healthy relationships. Together, we will explore ways Jewish values can be used to benefit and encourage healthy relationships, identify how Jewish values are sometimes misconstrued to promote intimate partner violence, and investigate any questions you may have on this topic.

8:45 – 9:30- First Session B

“All the people saw the sounds: On Revelation and Direct Encounter with the Divine”: Rabbi Yosef Goldman

The moment of receiving Torah was an out-of-this-world experience, and the Torah teaches that there are opportunities for direct, personal encounters with the Source of Life every day. What can we learn from the story of the revelation at Sinai about the firsthand knowledge of God we might have in our own lives?

9:30-9:40 – Cheesecake Break

9:40-10:20 – Second Session

“An Agnostic Plea for God’s Help”: Adam Simon

What does it mean to ask for God’s help and support, while so many of us have complicated and ambivalent feelings about God to begin with? We will explore several examples of Jewish texts and songs that present different frameworks for thinking about God’s support. If you would like, here is a playlist with several versions of the tunes we will sing together. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5N0XbuH9kObWTLeoD1uV5U?si=f5d545f74cc742d9
