The Religious Life Committee collaborates on all aspects of our religious observance and community at Shaare Torah. We work to create opportunities for spiritual growth, community building, and new areas of meaningful engagement to Judaism through our regular Shabbat and Holiday Services Programs, and through: alternative services on Shabbat mornings and song-filled Sunday minyanim; Maintaining “Shabbat Bags” filled with toys and books for kids of all ages to use during services; Friday Night Potlucks and Shabbat Dinners, such as the sold-out Hanukah Chinese Buffet and Hametzapalooza Pre-Passover Pasta Blowout; After-service kiddushes, like the New Year’s Eve Mimosa Toast, Crock-Pot Shabbat, Ice Cream Sundae Bar, Summer Kiddush series, and our monthly “Eat, Pray Schmooze;” and Enhanced holiday celebrations with Shaare Torah’s top-notch educational staff. Kids of all ages have enjoyed edible Sukkah building, Tot Shavuot services with a “trip up the mountain” to receive the Torah, and plush Torahs on Simhat Torah.
The Religious Life Committee welcomes members of the community who are interested in the spiritual life of the congregation and works towards creating and implementing programming and experiences that provide new access to our community for growth and learning. We welcome participants with all different perspectives, experiences, and knowledge to bring to the table. No certain level of Judaic knowledge or 'experience' is required!
We meet monthly at Shaare Torah and always have snacks. For more information, or to join this committee, please contact Amanda Katz at
