URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS!!
Gaithersburg HELP is an all volunteer organization that helps Gaithersburg area residents with emergencies by providing food, diapers and infant formula, transportation to medical appointments, and prescription funding assistance.
Food Coordinators: work from home 1 or 2 weekdays a month, returning client phone calls, scheduling pickups and entering client data on a computer
Infant Needs Workers: work several hours a week at home or in the HELP Pantry to respond to requests for formula and diapers
Spanish Speakers: work from home 2-4 days per month returning calls to Spanish speaking clients to coordinate the needed services
Drivers: Drive clients to weekday medical appointments in the local area. Time commitment is as little as 2 hours per month, or more if you like (you can accept or refuse each case)
**Pantry Workers: work in our pantry 1 evening a month for 2 hours distributing packed food bags to clients. Requires a team of at least 2, one of which needs to be an adult
**Food Drives: Organize, promote, and collect non-perishable food items for our pantry. Good project for students, see website for details
**Students welcome, SSL hours available

Great Volunteer Opportunity: Director of Communications for Social Action Committee The Social Action Committee is looking for a person who would like to contribute their talents to help in the following ways:
a) Publicizing the Social Action Committee's projects and volunteer opportunities;
b) Submitting articles into the local press about our successful projects (such as Jewish Week, Gazette, Kentlands/Lakelands community paper etc.). This is a great way for the Social Action Committee and Shaare Torah to let the world know what we are doing, and has many positive consequences, including attracting new members to our synagogue;
c) Writing articles for submission to the Shaare Torah Scroll (articles submitted on a bi-monthly basis); and
d) Generating new ideas to better communicate the mission and work of the Social Action Committee to our synagogue members and our local community.
Are you interested in this opportunity to be the Social Action Committee's Director of Communications? Please contact Loren Rodwin (
